Probably 100% of fitness fanatics are always on the lookout for some snack alternatives. I know I always am! Every time I wander into a shop, I go out of my way to find the supplements/ health section just to have a 10 minute comparison of the macros on each bar. I did previously write a post (here) all about the typical supplements I use which are all from Myprotein, check it out if you haven't.
So when Jenny from Myprotein contacted me with her campaign to promote healthy lifestyles while breaking down the barrier between women and protein, I was itching to get involved! She kindly sent me a few goodies from Myprotein, most of which I've never tried! Thank god they were all snacks. I'm a sucker for snacking in-between meals, so trying these really helped me as they were all full of protein. Here are all the goodies and what I thought of them:
Chocolate Protein Clusters*: So these are amazing. They taste like the chocolate covered cornflake cakes you used to make for bake sales, thinking you were the bee's knees. If you're a sucker for chocolate like me, these are a great alternative to a bad chocolate snack. I will be ordering some more of these as they will put a stop to my "rare" 5 biscuit binge. They are high in carbs, so don't eat these every day but the macros are ok for a cheat snack. Per packet: 1.6F/ 4.6C/ 2.2P
My Bar Zero*: Now these bars a brilliant. They texture is very similar to quest bars and they do taste similar. I was sent Almond Vanilla which tasted nutty with the vanilla coming out strongly. The Lemon Cheesecake was my least favourite because I'm not a big fan of lemons but these bars are very filling so I cannot complain. Caramel Peanut was so good I can't even explain. But I will try. Put peanut butter and salted caramel together and boom, you have a protein bar. The macros are brilliant and they are perfect to eat in-between meals, keeping you full. You could easily get away with eating one of these a day. If you get a packet, throw one in the oven for 20 seconds and hey presto you get a soft, gooey treat. Per bar: 8.7F/ 2.6C/ 19.2P
Protein Bites*: When I'm feeling some crisps, I struggle to find a healthier alternative. Nuts are ok I guess, but sometimes I need some more flavour. I had the 'Barbecue Chipolet' flavour and they were rather spicy. The bag is very full so they did last me two days (two snacks). I wasn't keen on the flavour but they satisfied that crisp craving. There are plenty more flavours to choose from so I would love to try the sour cream and onion ones. There are hardly any carbs considering they're a savoury snack. Per bag: 1.9F/ 8.1C/ 15.1P
Energy Shot*: Wow. I was absolutely buzzing after I took this. The tropical flavour tastes exactly like red bull, not surprised as each shot provides 80g of caffeine. I took it after work before going out and I was bouncing from wall to wall. I would use this again as a pre-workout to give you some energy. Well, a lot of energy... There are no cabs, fat or protein in this.
Protein Smoothie: This Milk Mango flavoured smoothie was very sweet. A little too sweet for me but it was a nice change to making a smoothie in the morning. Plus it has that added protein which we all need. I cannot find the link or nutritional information for this (if I do I will add it).
Chocolate Protein Balls*: Hurray more chocolate! Us chocoholic girls have gotta get it from somewhere, right? These delicious balls taste almost like maltesers and are light so you can take them where every you like. I just love chocolate and really enjoyed these, I will be ordering some more with my next Myprotein order. 6.2F/ 10.1C/ 15P
Impact Whey Protein*: I have written about this product on my previous supplement post here so I won't go into too much detail about this. I received Vanilla Raspberry; tasted like raspberry ice-cream in a drink, I love raspberry and this would also be perfect in porridge in the morning. Strawberry Cream was also delicious. Not as good as vanilla raspberry but satisfied my sweet tooth nicely. Chocolate Smooth was the last flavour, which I have had the full product of and it my absolute favourite flavour (did I tell you I was a chocoholic?).
Oats & Whey (protein flapjack)*: This was probably my favourite snack which isn't surprising as it does taste like white chocolate and raspberries in a bite. I had the 'Raspberry' flavour. So delicious! It is higher in cabs, so I ate this before a big leg workout to keep my energy sustained. I cannot wait to order a full box of these and try out the flavours. 9.7F/ 43C/ 22P
Smartshake Slim Shaker*: I have so many shaker bottles, but I was excited to receive a sexy black shaker. It has storage for your pills and your powders and can but thrown into the dishwasher. I found that it mixes a little better then the balls too, which is a bonus. Can you have too many shaker bottles?
