Now you're either mad or genuinely allergic to them because they are one of the best things on the planet. A bowl of chips can turn your day around. Sounds corny but it's true. Fair enough, some of you may not like them at all and we all know that even though they come from a spud, chips are not healthy. I don't really eat chips and maybe have them once every few weeks but if you're avid you can't give them up, I thought I'd give you some alternatives.
1. Apple Cinnamon Crisps. They are super easy and you can make them as sweet or savoury as you like. All you do is slice up the apples, pop them on the baking tray, sprinkle with cinnamon and the coconut sugar if you wish then put in the oven for 1-2 hour, at about 225 degrees, depending on how crispy you want them.
Ingredients: gala apples, cinnamon and coconut sugar.
2. Tortilla Chips. Yep, just the usual ones you buy to make nachos but they have much less salt and carbs in them. Super cheap and you don't have to cook them, you can make a homemade dip to get some healthy fats in, such as guacamole.
3. Sweet Potato Fries. Now I'm not going to go into much detail about these bad boys because I did a whole post on them here. Bare in mind, just because they are healthier, doesn't mean you can have them every day!
4. Carrot Crisps. Bet you've never thought of that. As they are baked, instead of fried, they are much better gems for your body than chips. With the carrots, you need to peel and slice them up into crisp shapes. Then put them in a mixing bowl and pour some oil and sea salt on them and mix it all up. Then all you need to do it lay them on a baking tray and leave them to cook at about 300 degrees for 15-20 minutes. Keep an eye on them so they don't burn.
Ingredients: 2 carrots, olive oil (or melted coconut oil) and sea salt.
