After all the comments on the Bobbi Brown lipstick I received for my birthday, I figured I'd do a review on said lipstick. I have never owned any Bobbi Brown makeup before (unless you count the shimmer brick I sometimes 'borrow' from my Mum) so I was rather excited when I opened it up and saw the sleek, black packaging. Surprisingly, I haven't seen any other mentions/ reviews about this lipstick and it baffles me as to why, because it is beautiful.
Vintage Red was created to celebrate Bobbi Brown's 25th anniversary and is inspired by Balthazar, a brasserie in New York, close to the Bobbi Brown offices and is a favourite destination for Brown herself. I know a handful of bloggers were invited to have afternoon tea and then a makeover (my invite got lost in my inbox, of course...) in Covent Garden and a chance to see the limited edition products. However, now any old shmuck can visit for tea and a makeover until September, which sounds so tempting!
So the lipstick is a classic red, but what makes it different is that it has a slight hint of orange warmth in it, which makes it a little different to the other reds at Bobbi Brown. Apparently it is the same colour as the lettering at Balthazar and the red booths inside.
The packaging is the same as the other lipsticks (except the outside which I threw away, don't hate), smooth and sophisticated. The consistency is creamy and long lasting which is what I would expect of a high end lipstick. It is slightly matte so perfect for a lunch out or a night out. Although it does need to be re-applied after a meal.
This collaboration is interesting and different and I am not disappointed my Mum picked it up out of the blue, well done Mum!
