Okay, I know I haven't blogged in a week and that's not like me, but I have a valid excuse. I went to Ibiza with one post planned and scheduled, all ready to go. Posted that while I was out there and decided to stay there for three more days. Blogger police, come get me. But I don't think you would turn down three more days in Ibiza with your fam, would ya?
Blogging game shall be upped from this week. My travels and internships are over and I am absolutely shattered. I am free until I start my third year of Uni so I have lots of time to actually go ahead with the plans I have had for my little blog for so long.
Anyway, enough of me rambling and let's get into the post. In June, I went to Malta to be a bridesmaid for an old friend who I see as my older sister, because I don't have one and it's always nice to pretend. A little over a year ago, when she asked me, I was thrilled, but also nervous. I haven't been a bridesmaid since I was 9, so it was exciting. I learn't a lot about being a bridesmaid and believe I can now call myself a professional bridesmaid! It's not just standing around looking angelic, there is a lot more to it.
Here are my tips on being the best bridesmaid you can be.
1. Stay calm
If everyone around you is stressing about getting into the car without dragging the dress on the floor or getting it stuck in the door, be the one who stays calm. Always offer a hand with anything to ease everyone around you.
2. Be available
There is probably nothing worse than a bride trying to get the party together for a meeting and you haven't looked at your phone for six hours. It's like a full time job gal. Be on call 24/7.
3. Be honest
If you don't agree with the bride or think a half-up half-down hairstyle will suit you better, tell her. She'd rather you be happy and feel amazing then you feeling crappy about the way you look. Any decent bride will support your views.
4. Don't wear the highest heels
Pretty self-explanitory. You will be on your feet all day working the room and posing for photos, wear something you feel comfortable in. If you do decide to wear heels because you are the shortest bridesmaid, break them in before and bring some flats for later!
5. Suck it up and smile
You won't agree with everything and you may not like the shoes you have to wear, but it isn't your day. It's good to be honest but if the bride prefers the other hairstyle, then go with it. Don't make a bridesmaidzilla out of you, please.
There we have it. Bookmark or screenshot if you are on your way to becoming a bridesmaid. Also, if you are looking for a bridesmaid, this application is pretty strong, right?
